Lunch made by French Nuns, Villa Louis & Potosi Brewery

Overnight Hotel Julien in Dubuque, IA|Lunch Included

This morning, we will depart the Woman’s club and head through the beautiful rolling hills of Western Wisconsin. We will enjoy a made from scratch French gourmet lunch at Saint Francis Hermitage. Here French Nuns create unique dishes and organic desserts fresh every day at this farm to table restaurant. This afternoon, we visit the historic Villa Louis, beautifully situated along the Mississippi River. Step back in time on a special guided tour and afternoon tea with author Mary Elise Antione as we learn about the three generation of Dousman women that lived in this home. Next, we will tour Potosi Brewing Company. See their state-of-the-art facility and try a few beer samples. Tonight, we will check into the Hotel Julien. This beautiful hotel is a historic landmark and is located right in Dubuque’s Old Main District. Enjoy time to explore Dubuque, grab some dinner or maybe take a ride up the Fenelon Place Elevator to get some of the best views in Dubuque!

Tiffany Windows, Botanical Garden, City Tour & Dickeysville Grotto

After enjoying breakfast at the Hotel Julien, we will explore Dubuque on a guided tour city tour. We will make a few stops throughout the morning. First, we will visit St. Luke’s to see their more than 100 Tiffany-stained glass window. Next, we will explore the Dubuque Botanical Garden that will be in full bloom when we visit. Learn all about how local volunteers keeps these gardens looking beautiful. This afternoon we will enjoy a progressive style lunch visiting three Dubuque historic sites and enjoying an appetizer, entrée and dessert at each stop. Plus, there will be a few surprises along the way including some sweet samples and some unique entertainment. We will now start making our way back to Milwaukee first visiting Sinsinawa Mound Center to learn about Father Samuel Mazzuchelli and the Nuns of Sinsinawa and their famous cinnamon bread. Next, we will tour Dickeysville Grotto built from materials and found objects from all over the world before we return to the Woman’s Club with wonderful memories of our time together.
